The Manufacturing systems market place is massive with many players, from the largest companies down to the one man companies that operate in some of the 'niche' areas.  There are hundreds of companies offering their various solutions including ERP/MRP, PDM, APS, MES, SCADA, PLCs etc.

Nearly all organisations already have some/many systems in place to 'help' with the manufacturing processes and procedures.  This can range from a manual paper based system to an Excel spreadsheet based system through to a fully integrated Manufacturing Systems environment.
